Thank you from the Oswaldtwistle Immanuel Cricket Club
On behalf of the Committee at O.I.C.C.C may we take the opportunity in thanking you for your support during the 2013 cricket season.
All teams within the Club performed extremely well, with the first eleven finishing a creditable 5th, their highest position since they entered the Senior Division. It also means that the Club will be able to compete in the Lancashire Cup competition for the first time.
The second eleven finished the season strongly however just missed out on promotion, finishing third place in the respective league.
The third eleven had another successful season ably captained by Alan Clark who has recently announced his retirement from the game. The team was made up of a number of young players who performed well and whose development is critical to the long term future of the Club.
During the season there were some exceptional performances including 4 first team players scoring in excess of 500 runs, 1 first team bowler taking over 50 wickets with 4 others taking in excess of 40 wickets, making the Ossy bowling line up the most feared in the league! Our overseas player acquitted himself well during the long season scoring nearly 800 runs and taking 30 wickets as well as creating a real social buzz around the Club
There were notable performances by other players including Francis Kinsella scoring 150 in a game versus Clitheroe, Matthew Roberts scoring in excess of 1,000 runs, and of course the famous hat-trick against Whalley by Gerard Metcalf.
Our inaugural Golf day which was held at Accrington & District Golf Club was a great success. The event being won by Napthens Solicitors. We are already planning next year’s event and if you would be interested in entering a team please let us know.
Once again, thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you in the near future.
