Ben trained for 8 weeks at a local boxing gym with professional coaches in preparation and was told his chosen opponent only a few days before. Each match consisted of three rounds at 2 minutes long and on the day it was decided that Ben and Kieran would be the Grand Finale!

Tom Rigby, organiser of the Blackburn event said "Ben Smith you sir are an absolute legend. My highest fundraiser in the 7 years I’ve been doing this job. £5,000 is simply spectacular and I will try to arrange a visit for you to one of the Cancer Research UK facilities so you can see the difference your superb effort makes."

The room exploded as Ben entered the ring and the crowd cheered him all the way through the first and second round. The decision was made to end the match there with Ben giving all he had and proudly sported a bloody nose and bust lip for his efforts.

Ben may not have won his match, but he certainly is a winner in our eyes raising a fantastic £5280!!! so far. Ben's page is still open if anyone else would like to donate.

Thank you to all that have supported, donated, and given your good wishes to Ben.
