Pierce has appointed Stephen Kerrigan as Tax Director, further expanding the firm’s ability to provide expert tax guidance to owner-managed businesses.
Stephen brings extensive experience in advising owner-managed businesses (OMBs) on a wide range of tax matters. He specialises in helping businesses and individuals navigate complex tax issues, with particular expertise in dealing with HMRC enquiries and dispute resolution, as well as share schemes, VAT, inheritance tax and capital gains tax planning.
Stephen became a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation in 2013 after passing all four written exams at the same sitting – an achievement that reflects his strong technical knowledge and commitment to the profession.
He spent eight and a half years at Azets, formerly Cassons, where he progressed through the firm and became a Partner in 2020. In April 2024, he moved to UHY Hacker Young in Manchester, continuing to advise a wide range of business clients.
Stephen has now joined Pierce as Tax Director, marking a return to working closely with the East Lancashire owner-managed business market, an area he has long supported throughout his career.
Commenting on his appointment, Stephen Kerrigan said:
“I’m delighted to be joining Pierce and returning to working closely with the East Lancashire OMB market. Pierce has a strong reputation for providing high-quality advice and building long-term relationships with clients, which aligns closely with my own approach. I’m looking forward to working with the team and helping clients navigate complex tax matters while supporting their long-term plans.”
Dominic Ball, Tax Director at Pierce, added:
“Stephen brings significant experience and technical expertise to our tax team, particularly in supporting owner-managed businesses and resolving complex tax issues. His background advising OMBs across the region makes him an excellent fit for Pierce, and we’re very pleased to welcome him to the firm.”
Stephen’s appointment reflects Pierce’s continued commitment to investing in senior expertise to support clients with increasingly complex tax and regulatory challenges.
