With 10 years’ experience in corporate finance in the profession and 12 years prior as an FD working in industry, I have the balance of knowledge and experience that enables me to more easily relate to clients financial and business needs. I have extensive experience of fundraising, selling businesses and completing MBOs and would certainly say that to successfully complete a complex deal is enormously satisfying, especially when the financial climate is more challenging.
I am a director of Pierce Corporate Finance Ltd and also of Pierce Group Ltd where I participate in the strategic management of the firm.
I am also a founder member of the Blackburn with Darwen Prosperous Group and the Hive network which is a voluntary group working to promote local business and the local economy. I am also President of the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce for the year 2015/16.
Qualifications and professional achievements:
BA, FCA, CF. I am pleased to say that whilst working at Pierce I have been part of a team that has achieved success in winning a number of awards, including the Insider Dealmakers Corporate Finance Advisory Team of the Year and Turnaround Team of the Year.
How did you end up working for an accountancy practice?
After qualification and a spell working in Manchester for a large international practice, I left the profession in the early 1990s to work as an FD in industry for a number of SMEs. I re-joined the profession in 2003 to work in corporate finance having gained experience from the “other side of the fence,” and joined Pierce in 2006.
I became acquainted with Syd Barrett (founder member of Pink Floyd) whilst working and living at the Chelsea Cloisters in 1974 (where Syd was also living at the time).
